Phonetique.com - Candlestick Phones

Candlestick phones are amongst the most popular designs ever to be produced (and reproduced). Introduced in the late 1800's, they were in worldwide production through the 1930's. Due to their unique design which harkens to the early days of widespread telephone use, they were reproduced in the 1970's in the Bicentennial fervor (1976 was the Bicentennial of America and the 100 year anniversary of Alexander Graham Bell's invention of the telephone).

Replicas of this period usually had the rotary dial while modern replicas usually replace the rotary dial fingerholes with push buttons.

Today's replicas are available in Black, Bronze, and Brushed Chrome (silver) from a variety of online sellers while actual Candlestick phones can be found at CustomPhones.com, ebay and a few other sellers.

Warning! There are many candlestick phone knockoffs that were produced to look exactly like Western Electric originals. Please be careful when buying what you think is an "Original" Candlestick phone! This article can help you spot the fakes.
