Phonetique.com - Princess Phones

Introduced in 1959, the Princess line of telephones became popular in the early 1960's. Along with the 1950's era Model 500, these were the first phones that came in a variety of colors to match a room's decor and for that reason were highly popular with teenage girls. The small and curved design did not allow an internal ringer at first but one would be introduced later. Perhaps its most unique feature was the lighted dialface powered by an external transformer which allowed Ma Bell to advertise the phones as "It's little...It's lovely...It Lights!"

The original models had a rotary dial but later versions had the touch tone keypad of today (without the * or # keys). The replicas available today cleverly combine the touch tone keys into a rotary ring to simulate the rotary dial appearance of the later models.

Replicas are available in pink, baby blue turquoise) and yellow from a variety of online sellers while the actual Princess phones can be found at CustomPhones.com, ebay and a few other sellers.
